Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is used to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to appear as being sent from a different one, usually with the purpose to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally have it. The record contains all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. When, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message won't be forwarded and it'll be discarded. In the event that you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be certified to send messages from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This option gives you the highest degree of safety, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed somewhere else. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can protect your email addresses by enabling the SPF security service for any domain hosted in the account with only a couple of clicks. This can be done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous experience with these issues, you won't have any kind of troubles to enable the protection. Everything that you will need to do is to choose a domain from a drop-down menu then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the updated record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be delivered globally only if they are sent from that particular server. When your emails are taken care of by us and not by a third-party provider, you can also benefit from an option for e-mail messages to be mailed only if the domain includes our MX records and the aforementioned would be the safest option.
